Brand identity is the outward expression of the brand - think logos, colors, fonts, shapes, filters, and messaging. It's the "how you look" of your business.

Choosing a brand identity that you LOVE and that truly aligns with business goals, mission and target audience can be a game changer. Having a consistent brand identity makes your brand look legit and adds art direction to all your marketing materials.


Essentially a brand identity is how your brand identifies itself, your "personality" of your business. It is important to establish a brand voice and have clear, concise messaging. A visual brand identity includes a tagline, logo, website, images, specific fonts, colors, etc. Everything that identifies your brand becomes your brand identity.


So what are the characteristics of a good brand identity?


Being relevant, authentic and being distinct. Anything that you can do to make your brand stand out is going to make your brand identity stronger than the rest.

Here's a checklist for you to get a head start:

LOGO

The words and graphics that represents your brand. Logos should embody the service or the product you are offering and incorporates your color palette.
